Ketchikan, Alaska

Nicknamed "Alaska's First City" due to its frequent appearance as the first Alaskan port after sailing from Seattle or Vancouver, Ketchikan offers a great variety of the types of activities you can do:  Native history, sea kayaking, a trolley tour, fishing expeditions, and more, await your day in Ketchikan.  If you are visiting, share the date with us, and we can search for specific excursions aligning with your date and time.  Click the photo to the left to scroll through the numerous choices.

Sitka, Alaska

Sitka is the former "New Archangel" capital of Russian America before its purchase by the United States in 1867.  There are sites to visit that still resonate with Russian culture - The National Park's Russian Bishop's House, Baranof Castle Hill, St. Michael's Cathedral, and many more offer a glimpse into the region's rich history.  There's also the National Historic Park to explore - offering TIingit totem poles and towering Sitka Spruce trees.  The Alaska Raptor Center and The Fortress of the Bear are two sites that work with injured animals and promote wildlife conservation through education and rehabilitation programs.  Also, there's the Sitka Sound Science Center which focuses on preservation of marine life and education.  All of this is in an easily walkable town - that even remembers to have convenient restrooms for tourists!  Harrigan Centennial Hall offers arts and cultural education, including traditional dance and a gift shop.  All of this - in addition to the opportunities for whale watching, puffin sightings, seals and otters.  With its rich history and vibrant cultural offerings, visitors are sure to enjoy a memorable experience.
